Back to Balance is focused on naturopathic family medicine, women’s health, gastrointestinal disorders, autoimmune disorders, mood disorders, environmental and food allergens, and pain management. Hilary Back, ND, LAc, practices natural and functional medicine using diet and lifestyle counseling, homeopathy, drainage remedies, glandular and nutritional supplements, Chinese and Western herbs, as well as acupuncture, homeopathic injection therapy, B12 (methylcobalamin) injections, Prolozone injections, Ozone therapy, naturopathic manipulation, Ortho-Bionomy and Craniosacral therapy.

Dr. Back performs physical examinations, laboratory testing, gynecological exams, nutritional and dietary assessments, metabolic analysis, allergy testing, X-ray examinations and other diagnostic tests. Dr. Back combines and tailors these assessments and designs a treatment plan to address the needs of the individual with the patient as a participant.

Our mission is to assist patients in uncovering blocks to healing in order to maximize health and well being. We work in cooperation with patients, developing a treatment plan based on mutual respect and responsibility. We evaluate health by listening to and observing a patient’s thoughts, emotions, and physical symptoms.

In alignment with naturopathic and Chinese medical principles, we emphasize a constitutional approach. This includes addressing specific symptoms as well as the underlying cause. Symptoms reflect a meaningful picture of a person’s inner state and vitality and demonstrate the appropriate direction for healing. The goal is to harmonize body, mind, and spirit and obtain optimal health.

Our focus is supporting healing from the inside out, both in immediate care matters and chronic health concerns.

The Naturopathic Doctor

Naturopathic doctors (NDs) are practitioners trained in natural medicine. They are educated in the conventional medical sciences, but they are not medical doctors (MDs). Naturopathic doctors treat disease and restore health using therapies from the sciences of clinical nutrition, herbal medicine, homeopathy, physical medicine, exercise therapy, counseling, and hydrotherapy. Naturopathic Doctors tailor these approaches to the needs of an individual patient. Naturopathic medicine is effective in treating most health problems, whether acute or chronic.

In practice, naturopathic doctors perform physical examinations, laboratory testing, gynecological exams, nutritional and dietary assessments, metabolic analysis, allergy testing, X-ray examinations, and other diagnostic tests. Naturopathic Doctors combine and tailor treatments to the needs of the individual based on a cogent philosophy that acknowledges the patient as a participant.

The naturopathic doctor has a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (ND) degree from a four-year graduate level naturopathic medical college. Naturopathic doctors must pass a national or state-level board examination and their actions are subject to review by a State Regulatory Agency.
